After a champagne wedding breakfast my brandnew husband and I were driven to the airport by his siblings. He had organized the trip, but I was kept in the dark. Almost literary, since they made me keep my head down all the way to the airport. At check in I had to keep my eyes closed, so it wasn't until arriving in New York that I found out our destination was in America. Off to the rental desk. No, I had to stay back so I could not overhear them. Only when we were on the road my husband told me what he had arranged for us to do. We had set off on a road trip that would take us across the USA, ending in California three weeks later.
