While in Dominica I was always asked...Why are you here? Or...How did you hear of Dominica?! Well...thats why I was there. Dominica is the Nature Island...and a drive around the island will show you why. Friendly, warm and uber-green...Dominica won't disapoint. But...its not for everyone. You beach bums who want to party at night...go somewhere else. Those who want authentic Caribbean with few white faces holding cameras and American dollars, go to Dominica! The people...music...history...landscape is brilliantly amazing.
Dominica is a very unexplored, unspoiled Caribbean island. Its neighbors are Martinique and Guadeloupe, two French Islands.
The island sees few overnight visitors and gets one cruise ship daily (I think). The island is known for its nature, as opposed to its beaches. It has the 2nd largest Boiling Lake in the World. If your a hiker or nature lover...Dominica is for you. But mind you...the transportation system is a bit difficult at times, and there is not much of a night scene! Dominica is a very nature friendly island...just a few days and you will think twice about turning the fan on...I know I got into this conserving mode. The locals are very eco friendly and the island hopes within a few years to be completely organic and an eco tourism destination for the whole island.
