Death Valley National Park - scorching hot and dry

Entrance to Death.....

Compared with nearby Grand Canyon or Zion National Park, "Death Valley" has fewer visitors. But I recommend or challenge you to make a trip there.

Perhaps the name itself is not attractive. The extreme weather conditions also make it less conducive. Perhaps should be avoided when travelling with young children and senior citizens.

Yet the heat and lack of vegetation to provide any shade itself make this a unique National Park of what life perhaps be like in a hot planet like Mars.
Lowest point in USA

There ia park fee and the visitor's map is an excellent guide to where to drive, stop, take picture and quickly get back into the cool comfort of an air conditioned car.

Make sure your car is in good shape and the engine or air conditioner would not happen to suddenly cease to function in Death Valley National Park.

Preparation is everything. With enough water and precaution taken to stay cool, you can explore and find out why it is called "Death Valley" and live to tell the tale.

We stayed a night in Death Valley once - fascinating to walk out in the cool of the evening and before dawn - so differerent from the heat of the day. leyle

Believe it or not, I had to work not far from here... most of the time outside. Yes, it's quite hot! Thanks for sharing your tips and photos.
