Since DPRK (Democratic People's Republic of Korea) or simply North Korea is currently one of the least visited places by tourists because of the political isolation, this close encounter I feel is worth documenting and sharing.

We took an USO/JSA tour from Seoul. We came. And we saw North Korea - at the border.

We physically walked across the internationally recognized border at the 38th parallel at the DMZ (De-Miltarized Zone) at Pakmujon into the soil of North Korea and then back into South Korea.

i liked the way you described difference between north and south korean military personnel. great page. you are very fortunate to have visited one of the most beautiful countries termed 'evil' unnecessarily. thanks for sharing. btw, do you know if it is a tribal background that divides south and north? i am not able to determine how same people can be divided for so long.

What an extraordinary experience to have had - as surreal as anything we read or hear about North Korea.

A fascinating look just across into one of the most closed societies on earth. Maybe someday the Korean people will chip away at the walls in Panmunjon the same way the German people did with the Berlin Wall in 1989.
