Fountain of Wealth - Making your wish come true - Singapore
Fountain of Wealth - Making your wish come true Fountain of Wealth Review

Standing at a height of nearly 14meters, it is one of the largest fountain in the world.

At the basement of Suntec City, is a mammoth circular fountain built on principles of good chi (positive energy) on Chinese fengshui (geomancy).

According to the written guidelines, go round 3 times in counter clockwise direction and putting your palms into the small fountain of water.

The big fountain is not turned on all the time. Check operating time.

Also there is a photo counter there to ensure you can a great picture. Payable of course.

Address: Suntec City, opposite Raffles Hotel, downtown

Sipping Singapore Sling at Raffles Hotel - Singapore
Sipping Singapore Sling at Raffles Hotel Sling Review

For many English, Australian, New Zealand and Japanese tourists, one of the must-do things is to get to Raffles Hotel and order a Singapore Sling at the Gazebo.

Singapore Sling's orginal recipe includes gin, cherry brandy, and Benedictine with club soda to taste. You can have your drink there even if you are not staying in the Hotel. The net cost is about Singapore $24.

If you miss the Singapore Sling at Raffles Hotel, you can still have it at other drinking places as well as on board Singapore Airlines. Cheers.

Listening Parliament Debate - Singapore
Listening Parliament Debate Parliament Review

The Parliament House was completed in 1999 and hence a relatively new building.

All debates are open to the public. There are simultaneous translations into Malay, English, Mandarin and Tamil which makes it uniquely Singapore.

Old Supreme Court - Singapore
Old Supreme Court

The Old Supreme Court has been an iconic symbol of Singapore overlooking the Padand (Esplanade) and Elizabeth Walk in the good old day.s

Today there is the new futuristic design of the New Supreme Court nearby.

With the majsstic dome and classical Greek architecture with columns, it was open in 1939.

There are actually two domes. The large one which dominate the skyline and a smaller dome not visible which houses the library.

The good news that the Old Supreme Court and the adjacent CIty Hall will conserved and converted into the National Art Gallery.

New Supreme Court - Singapore
New Supreme Court Parliament Review

This impressive building of the New Supreme Court was designed by a famous architect Lord Norman Foster.

It is ideally and symbolically located next to the Parliament House as well as near the Old Supreme Court.

The design of the building in layout and levels reflect the Singapore judiciary system. The modern circular top is representive to impartilality of justice like what the old dome symbolizes. The unique marble cladding allow external light to flood into the inside of the building.

Address: North Bridge Road. Downtown Singapore.

One Raffles Link - Singapore
One Raffles Link

This is a popular meeting point. It is actually a pedestrian tunnel connecting Raffles City at the MRT station to Suntec City and also to the Esplanade.

It goes up and down. Though there is wheel chair support facility, I think it is difficult to use and have never seen anyone with wheel chair using this link when I was there.

On both sides are popular shops, cafes and eating places.

A busy link. It is also a popular place for people watching if you are into that.

Free maps and information at Visitors Center - Singapore
Free maps and information at Visitors Center

At Orchard Road, near Cairnhill Road junction (opposite Sommerset MRT) is the Singapore Information Center.

It is open late until 9pm and very welcoming and friendly. You can get free maps and brochures in English as well other major languages.

The staff are very helpful. Once I asked for the closest place to buy a computer cable connector, the staff even called the establishment to check the price for me before I went over to purchase. That is service.

Another time, there were freebies including departmental free vouchers and free admission to the zoo or bird park if you produce your passport that you are a recent arrival.

So make a stop at the Singapore Information Center.

Note: At Changi Airport, fter you have cleared immigration, at the baggage collection area, there are plenty of free maps and brochures of Singapore to pick up.

The Esplanades (Durian) - Singapore
The Esplanades (Durian) Esplanade - Theatres by the Bay Review

A beautifully designed unique architecture for the theatres and the art.

The "thorny" roofs of the buildings resemble the thorns of a popular local seasonal fruit called "durian". Hence it has been fondly called "Durian".

Even if you are not going to see a concert or recital, it is a great place to walk along the river promenade to see across the Fullerton and Merlion and city skyscrapper skyline.

At night, the place has an special glow about it.

Directions: Nearest Metro - City Hall
