New Popular Island Destination

Pulau Aman and its twin island Pulau Gedong has been around for a long time, being of closer reach than Pulau Pinang (Penang Island) from mainland.

Like Pulau Jerejak, it can be seen everytime you cross the Penang Bridge but never visited. Now you can get on a boat to step on the island easily.

This is possible with the recently constructed new boat jetty at Batu Kawan. It has become a popluar weekend destination from locals from Seberang Perai and Penang island as well out-station Malaysian tourists.

Do try the "Mee Udang" (prawn noodles) and lookout for the breadfruit trees (Sukun) while you are visiting Pulau Aman.

Pulau Aman looks like a lovely, peaceful island, SL! The lack of souvenir shops can only be a good thing! :-) Season's Greetings and Best Wishes for 2008! :-)

Great overview of this small island. Hopefully their simple lifestyle can remain this way for a long time.

Truly enjoyable page on Pulau Aman. The prawn noodles sound delicious and your pictures show a very peaceful island untouched - yet - by tourism.

A very interesting tour around this very laid-back and still undeveloped island! It seems to be getting more and more difficult to find such places. Nice photos of the Breadfruit tree of 'Mutiny on the Bounty' fame!
