Bukit Mertajam is fondly called "BM".

Local Chinese calls it "Tuo Sua Ka" in Hokkien Chinese dialect meaning the "foot of the big hill".

BM has several famous schools including the Jit Sin and BM High.

The St. Anne's Church draws tourists and worshippers from all over Malaysia.

Great restaurant tips as always, even if the Ice Kacang doesn't sound to be of my taste!

the cinema you mentioned looks like Cheok Suar to me, is it not? the rojak at one of the corner at the junction is quite famous, termed "black man rojak"
