With the construction of the bridge from Penang Island and the North South Highway which by passes Butterworth township, Bagan is now quieter than ever.

There are two exquisite Chinese temples worth visiting.

Actually Butterworth refers to the district and Bagan is the town but for convenience, it is always labelled as Butterworth in maps, not because locals have problems pronouncing the word 'Butterworth'.

What beautiful Chinese stone and wood carvings. Glad to know that Butterworth is no longer called the Ugly Duckling! Sad about some of changes which create loss of popularity of the Coffee Shop. Another wonder page.

Good write-up on butterworth. Bagan is also the name of a famous historical site in myanmar :)
