Angkor was lost to the jungles until a French archaelogist rediscovered this fabulous group of ancient temples built during the height of Khmer civilisation in Cambodia.

Then Angkor was "lost" again when the Pol Pot regime took over Cambodia and cut off Cambodia from the outside world.

Today, Angkor again has become a tourist mecca. Angkor was even shortlisted as the 21 finalists for the Seven New Wonders of the World.

So if you have not been to Angkor, don't wait any longer :)

I remember that as a kid, I had a book with drawings of Angkor and I enjoyed it a lot. Thanks for sharing ! The repairing of the temples is fantastic!

Thanks for stopping by and yes it has been a while. St. Augustine is a beautiful town to visit - so much history there. Lovely page and pics on Angkor Wat esp. the overall view of the site from above.
