This is the most well known and highest rated seafood place in Charleston. It has a central location Downtown and is easy to get to from most hotels in that area. I would HIGHLY suggest getting there at off peak hours because anywhere near lunch or dinner especially in tourist season there will be a loooong wait.
Favorite Dish: anything
Address: 215 Meeting St
Comparison: more expensive than average
Price: US$11-20

This is THE best deal in town by far...for about $6 you can get a huge southern meal that includes a meat, 2 or 3 veggie sides and cornbread and they give you ALOT of food. So here's the deal...just go to any Piggly Wiggly grocery store (downtown, west ashley, north charleston...where ever). The deli closes at 7 pm, but really get there before 6:00 if you want the best selection. So go to the deli where the hot food is...they have amazing southern meals like sausage and dirty rice, southern mac and cheese, sweet potatoes, fried chicken, southern fried steak, corn, mashed potatoes/ gravy, fried okra, fried catfish, baked apples, etc. etc. Just go up to the nice lady and tell her what meat and sides you want and whether you want cornbread or a roll with it. If you' re a vegetarian you could just get the vegetable sides instead. You won't believe how much food they give you and the best part is it's authentic southern food just like mama makes.
Favorite Dish: mac & cheese, sweet potatoes (aka candied yams), fried okra, fried chicken and cornbread.
Comparison: least expensive
Directions: Just ask anyone where the nearest Piggly Wiggly is.
Price: less than US$10

Great Irish pub with great seafood and Irish fare as well. It is near Market St. so it is usually very busy. If you want quiet this is not your place. If you want a fun crowd for those 30+ this is your place.
Favorite Dish: Crab dip, crab fritters, shrimp & grits, and lowcountry jambalaya.

I love the funky eclectic atmosphere. There's a patio outside. The crowd is very mixed from college kids to older folks. It's really an institution downtown everyone loves it.
Favorite Dish: Everything!!! I have eaten burritos in NYC, San Francisco and L.A., these burritos are equal if not better. The nachos, burritos, and gaucomole are my faves. They also have mexican soda pop.
Address: 439 King Street Charleston , SC 29401

Directions: It's between Warren and Radcliffe Streets.2 blocks past Marion Square on King St. going away from the Market St. area.
