1 January 2008 I've been neglecting VT. I feel bad but I think I can come to terms with it. Last month we went off to Vienna and are soon off to Prague so I'll be doing some tips just as soon as I can remember the names of where I went... This year will hopefully also see a trip to Santorini with my Mum as a thank you for all of the babysitting she's been doing with wee Archie. Fingers crossed.
I've actually been doing stuff on my pages. Not much but it's a start...
So, if you're in the mood to have a wee look at provincial south west England have a wee look at my Plymouth and Padstow pages. |
| | All About Me Figure that a bunch of photos are somewhat unrepresentative so here goes... I love film, music and literature. Oh, and wine. Best books include (in no particular order): Random Harvest by James Hilton, The Once and Future King by T. H. White, George Orwell's Down and Out in London and Paris, Steinbeck's East of Eden and Cannery Row. Wines: Chablis and Sancerre. Music: The Cure, Nine Inch Nails, Fields of the Nephelim, Dead Can Dance, Midival Punditz, Antony and the Johnsons, Claude Challe, Sisters of Mercy, The Bolshoi Films: I'm remarkably girlie when it comes to film and love things like The Colour Purple, Random Harvest, Goodbye Mr Chips, The English Patient and Sleepless in Seattle. Am I bad? Ah, who cares?
I'm married to Chris - 6 years this week. We have two needy/neurotic cats: Mr P (Perkins from American Psycho) and Habibi and we have wee lad Conker, a sprollie (English Springer Spaniel x collie cross).
We live in on the Cornish/Devonshire border in the West Country of England and have recently been joined by Archie - see below. |
Things I love include: Rain Unfurled fern fronds - when they look like small green fists punching the air in jubilation. Toast (taste and smell thereof) Alfalfa sprouts The smell of wet gun dogs Perfume Egyptian cotton bedding Earl Grey tea Gin and tonic Bridgewater mugs Old Penguin books The National Geographic Magasine The British Museum: if you haven't been go NOW. (Like anyone's going to have read this far down the list...) Old Agatha Christie re-runs on the telly. Very lazy Sundays reading The Times in bed drinking tea and eating croissants. Tea from a TEA POT. Daisies. Setting the alarm extra early so I can turn it off and sleep some more. (brown paper packages tied up with string... | | |

| | Ode to Spot Felis Cattus, is your taxonomic nomenclature, an endothermic quadruped carnivorous by nature? Your visual, olfactory and auditory senses contribute to your hunting skills, and natural defenses.
I find myself intrigued by your subvocal oscillations, a singular development of cat communications that obviates your basic hedonistic predilection for a rhythmic stroking of your fur, to demonstrate affection.
A tail is quite essential for your acrobatic talents; you would not be so agile if you lacked its counterbalance. And when not being utilized to aide in locomotion, it often serves to illustrate the state of your emotion.
O Spot, the complex levels of behaviour you display connote a fairly well-developed cognitive array. And though you are not sentient, Spot, and do not comprehend, I nonetheless consider you a true and valued friend.
(Star Trek: The Next Generation, episode "Schisms")
This'll only make sense to a Trekie. you know who you are... |
