Quiet, peacefull lifestyle. Friendly towns and neighbors. happy kids and happy dogs. Endless hiking, canoeing and kayaking...every vista a picture waiting for an artist.
Harrington, I think is the finest town Downeast...a small coastal town on Pleasant Bay. No fast food, no Wall Mart, no traffic lights, no cell phone coverage. Weekly newspaper, without sensationalism or an agenda. Long, sunny days and "quilt on the bed" cool nights. Busy days of gardening, walking, reading, painting, gathering pebbles and sea glass along the beach.

Wabi Sabi Farm

"Wabi Sabi" is a Japanese term meaning appreciation for things simple, rustic, imperfect. Our summer place is the former parsonage of a little country church. Built around 1870, it has been lovingly restored by a local master carpenter. The fields are overgrown blueberry land...which I hope will produce some organic veggies and herbs this summer. I miss my kitchen rocking chair, "our" Downeast Christian Church next door, and all that is "wabi sabi" beautiful in Downeast Maine.
