A must-see

Hong Kong

There is already a lot written about Hong Kong, but for me visiting Hong Kong was for more personal reasons. My family has all passed through on their way to Canada or lived there at some point, so it was good to see the idea of Hong Kong up close. Whether you're here for the food, shopping, or on the way to somewhere else, Hong Kong life is something else.

My List of Things to do in Hong Kong

-Eat!
-Hong Kong Zoo & Gardens
-Stanley Market
-Lantau Island
-Cheung Chau Bun Festival or just visit Cheung Chau island
-Star Ferry
-see Hong Kong Island from Kowloon Harbour, then see Kowloon from HK Island
-Hong Kong Museum of History
-Hong Kong Heritage Museum
-Victoria Peak
-Wong Tai Sin Temple
-do one of the free things that Hong Kong tourism has on - whether it be riding a "junk" (boat with large masts) in the harbour, demonstrations, etc. Just get a pamphlet that lists the free activities from them
-browse through a Wellcome or Park N Shop grocery store to see the different fruits, vegetables, food available here. Since HK is an important trading city, many foods from other countries are available here.
-walking through the mid-Levels is interesting to see the residential areas and how some people live

Get an Octopus card and you'll find its very handy for the MTR and food places! Too bad you can't check what gets deducted from it tho...

Future of Hong Kong's harbourfront

During my stay in Hong Kong, a forum was showcasing the future development of Hong Kong's harbourfront. With the former airport land in Kowloon taking up valuable space, bids from various design companies showed their ideas of what the land could be developed for. It will be very interesting to see which bid won and how there will likely be one more thing to see Hong Kong once this development is finished.

Pros:"Airport, clean streets, tons of shopping, tons of activities for visitors"
Cons:"Various bad smells, poverty, always a shortage of time and space"
In A Nutshell:"Hong Kong is a place you can't visit just once."
