My Travels

by AllieF - last update: Jan 31, 2007

Canadian Travels

I've been travelling since I was younger, when we would visit Vancouver quite a bit. From Saskatoon, we would also do weekend trips to Calgary or Edmonton often, like most people in Saskatchewan do. Then when I was older, I ventured out to travel more of the country and eventually overseas! It's tough to visit a large chunk of Canada, given our distances and then winter makes things more difficult. Eventually I will travel more of Ontario, Quebec, the Maritime provinces and up North! I've got Western Canada pretty well covered, except I'd like to explore the Rockies, Vancouver Island and the Okanagan more.

Where have I been in Canada? Excluding the locations I've already put, here's a list until I have time to add all of them!

West to East: Victoria, Tofino, Ucluelet, Sechelt, Gibsons, Vancouver, Whistler, Banff, Cochrane, Calgary, Drumheller, Edmonton, Fort Saskatchewan, Elk Point, Lloydminster, Waskiseu, Prince Albert, Batoche & Fort Carlton, Lake Manitou & Watrous, Lake Diefenbaker, Moose Jaw, Regina, Winnipeg, Dryden, Toronto, Niagara Falls, Ottawa, Montreal. A couple scenic bus trips are Calgary to Vancouver or Edmonton to Vancouver. Greyhound buses are one of the cheapest and scenic ways to see the country. However, the distances are long between many of the major cities...

Overseas Travels

New Zealand
I had an amazing time living & travelling around New Zealand for nearly a year and it was just the best idea I've ever had. I'll add more locations as I have time, but here's where I've been:

North Island: Cape Reinga, Paihia/Bay of Islands area, Hamilton, Otorohanga, Waitomo, New Plymouth, Whitianga/Coromandel, Tauranga/Mt Maunganui, Rotorua, Gisborne, Napier/Hastings, Taupo, Wellington.

South Island: Picton, Kaikoura, Christchurch, Akaroa, Mount Cook, Lake Tekapo, Oamaru, Dunedin, Queenstown, Te Anau/Milford Sound, Wanaka, Franz Josef & Fox glacier villages, Greymouth/Pancake Rocks, Nelson.

Other
On my way back to Canada, I had a two week stopover trip through Hong Kong and Macau, which was also an amazing time.

There are a ton of countries I'd like to travel to still, with Australia and/or France being the next likely place(s).
