"Mamacha Carmen" Paucartambo by K-nalla

Paucartambo Travel Guide: 6 reviews and 12 photos

Paucartambo has, along with one other city in Japan, the fame of having the most wonderfull sunrise in the world, full of opticall illusions to include up to 3 suns!!!
But Paucartambo has more than just that. It has one of the strongest roots when it comes to traditions. People have emigrated from Paucartambo since the 1950 when mining went almost extinct in this town, but every year, religiously, people come back here to celebrate their Mamacha Carmen, Matron Saint of the town.

From the rainforest, from every village around and even from the Collao, people come to commerate the Virgin, not to include all the national and foreign tourist that come to get a glimpse of the festival
