Gothic spires! Duomo Review

Milan's cathedral (the duomo) was built between the 14th and 19th centuries, a grand buiding with a Baroque exterior and Gothic spires. Its completion was ordered by Napoleon Bonaparte, who crowned himself King of Italy here in 1805. You can ascend to its roof (for a fee) to view the elaborate statues and sculptures (including one of Napoleon). The square in front of the cathedral, Piazza del Duomo, is usually teaming with tourists and activity.
