A Relaxing Trip Last year when we went to Cancun we stayed at the Riu Palace. AWESOME!!! The beaches are beautiful white sand, the water was clear and warm, and the weather was perfect. Since this was our 2nd trip to Cancun, we did a whole lot of nothing and the Riu is one of the best places for that. With a beautul never ending pool right at waters edge and ample room on the beach, rest and relaxation was very easy, especially when your drinks are brought to you. A group of us did take a cat over to Isla Mujeres each trip we too to Cancun, which is a great place for shopping Old Mexico style. Here you will find quaint little shops selling anything from fine silver to blankets to t-shirts. It is a great place to go. My first trip to Cancun, we did a little more site seeing so I will touch on that on my next chapter and leave you some great tips. |

1st Trip to Cancun - February 2003 This was my first trip to Cancun, so I wanted to get out and see what it had to offer. The city is fun to shop in. There is the market within walking distance of most of the hotels in the hotels district. We stayed at the Camino Real which was wonderful. The service was great, the views spectacular, and the food was wonderful. Unfortunately, it is no longer. The building is still there, but it is now called Dreams and I believe it is all inclusive now. It sits right on the tip of the ocean, which makes for great ocean sounds to go to sleep to. We rented a Jeep one day and drove to the Myan Ruins in Tulum. That was really fun. The ruins are just beautiful and they sit up on a hill looking over the ocean. No wonder they chose this spot. Almost a never ending breeze. Plan on walking a lot and wear cool clothing and a hat. You may wont to double check to see if it is still open. The last I heard, they had it closed to the public for a while to do some maintenance and clean up what people had decided to vandalize. On our way back, we stopped at the jewelry factory and saw a lot of things we could never afford. Non the less, it was neat to go through. When you are in Cancun, take the public buses. It's cheep and you can get just about any where. Hold on. The drivers area a little loco. HA!! If you want to snorkel, when you take a cat to Isa Mujeres, there is a reef where they will take you after your shopping trip. A little warning. The water is deep and choppy, however, it is very clear and you get the chance to see a lot of fish, including barracuda and the reef is awesome. Make sure you don't wear anything shinny. |
Cancun 2008 COOL!!! It's confirmed. We are going next February and we are staying at my favorite hotel. It use to be the Camino Real, but now it is a Dreams Resort. JACKPOT. I have been on their website and boy have they done some neat things to the place. They have added pools, redecorated the rooms and added, get this, a daulphin pool. AWESOME!!!!! Well, as you can see, I am excited about this, however, I cannot start my count down until October. I will have much more on this, you can be sure of that. Here is their link if you want to check it out. Cancun |
