"Relaxing" Bald Head Island by changeinlatitude

What a great place to go to get away from the rat race of the world. No cars, stop lights, traffic, smog or any hustle and bustle of the world. The only transportation on the island is by golf car, bike or by foot. Depending on where you are staying, your biggest decision of the day will be "Should we go to the pool or the beach first?"

Just to give you a little information about the Island. Bald Head is located just off the coast of North Carolina and is Carolina's southernmost cape island. It is located at the confluence of the Cape Fear and Atlantic Ocean. You will take a short ferry ride from Southport to Bald Head's Indigo Plantation and Marina. From there, if you do not have someone meeting you, there is a tram service that will transport you and your belongings to your vacation destination. Be sure to check on the ferry times. It is alway best to call ahead for the ferry schedule and to reserve a space on the tram.

There are lots of nice little shops and some great restaruants on the island. I will tell you that if you want anything other than beer or wine, bring it with you to the island. Other than the restaurnats other alcholic beverages are not sold there.

We will be heading to Bald Head again this August and I cannot wait.

I will try to leave you some good tips on where to eat and shop.
