In March of 2006, I traveled to Vancouver thanks to Olivia who had two free tickets anywhere in the United States. Since we both live in the East Coast of the United States, it only made sense to utilize the tickets to travel to the West Coast. This would be my second time in the West Coast, San Diego being the first. We flew from BWI to DFW to SEA, and once in Seattle we took a bus into Vancouver. Not only did she provide me with a free ticket, but she also happened to have a close friend of hers in Vancouver. Ilinca had grown up with Olivia in Romania until her parents decided to move to Canada. Ilinca & Cameron (her better half) opened the doors of the new, and gorgeous apartment to us for four days. I am very greatful for their hospitality, and I hope I can one day open my doors to them.

| | We arrived in Vancouver late Thursday evening, and started the brand new day, Friday, with a nice cup of Java from Artigiano. From there, we did a walking tour that took us from the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver through Robson Street towards the West End. We stopped by English Bay to listen to the waves break, followed Alexandra Park to Mole Hill, and continued on our way to Gastown & Chinatown. We saw the famous Steam Clock, and watched the locals buy fresh seafood @ T&T Supermarket in Chinatown. We had a great lunch @ Incendio Pizzeria, and met up with Ilinca @ The Lennox Pub for a beer after she got out of work.

| | On Saturday, all four of us went to Victoria. We drove to the ferry loading dock and patiently waited to load the car in the Ferry. It was a rather nice journey to Vancouver Island. We spent the day walking through Victoria's Inner harbor, we went into the Fairmont Empress, and Thunderbird Park. We had a really nice lunch @ Canoe, and finnished off in Chinatown & Fan Tan Alley. On Sunday, we spent the day walking through Granville Island and its Public Market. Had lunch & tasted some local beers at the Granville Brewery. Afterwards, we made our way to Yaletown, Stanley Park. It was a great time in a great city.

Take care! | Carmanah Thu Mar 2, 2006 02:25 UTC Fantastic shots - architect fan I imagine? :) Your info's pretty spot on and good choice on Cafe Artigiano - they make a mean cappuccino! However, your photo of "BC Hydro Building" is actually a photo of the building across the street: One Wall Centre |
