Trip taken to Arches National Park February 10th, 11th and 12th, 2006 with our dogs Perla and Dusty. We took a short hike 1.5 miles) off the road into the Windows Arches, and this is the view from the back of the arches.
Pack Creek Ranch at base of the LaSal Mountains
We stayed at Pack Creek Ranch; what a beautiful spot, and the cabins were very comfortable. Pack Creek Ranch was a popular spot where Edward Abbey, author of "The Monkey Wrench Gang", frequently haunted when he lived in Moab, Utah. It is now owned by private homeowners who rent out the individual cabins for $90 - $200 per night.
A walk to an arch in Arches National Park
We took a 3 mile round-trip hike into the Corona Arch, in BLM land, and our legs really ached afterwards. But the most spectacular arches were to be seen inside the boundaries of Arches National Park.
A Slot Canyon in Arches
We discovered this beautiful, shadowy slot canyon in Arches; the light was really interesting, and the sand inside on the canyon floor was like silk.
