adventures&memories | from the bus on our way from Valetta back to Msida |
I went to Malta for two weeks to visit my best friend. I wouldn't have gone at this time of my life exactly there if not for her. Malta for me is the kind of place where you can have fun - lots of students because of the university and lots of languages spoken, bars and discos of everykind and pleasant restaurants to eat. On the other hand you can isolate yourself on some beach area and just admire the view. Malta is beautiful and warm country. i think if i am sometimes sick of the winter i can just go there (and remember how i sunburnt myself while in the water) and be warmed again. :) i was there in april and it was hotter than in Bulgaria but i caught a period of really strong winds - my god it was amazing how i was moved while walking from the air! I have never experienced such strong winds in my life! Being in Malta we went to see the other nearby island Gozo ( which is smaller) and had troubles returning to Malta. Because of the strong wind they had stopped the feri and we just stood there for 6 hours, luckily in a hired car by us ( it was cold in the evening). The feri adventure on our way back is something one must feel , but never twice. I said all my prairs while seeing the water (from the 2nd floor of the feri) on my eyes level - this huge "boat" was so swinging that i thought we will not get off of it alive. I say this now with laughter but i didn't think that way then! :) The sun is really strong in Malta - be sure to use protection of sun creams and clothes or a T-shirt if you are sensitive to the sun, and even if you are not so sensitive. I had the misfortune of having my sun cream forgotten and the same night i was red as the red light on a traffic light! When your airplane lands u see only water - i had never landed on an island till then and i thought : "what is happening..?" Soon i saw the ground and the not- so -huge airport but definately better than ours in Sofia. After all Malta is the transfer point to Africa - planes from Europe land there first ,before people board another plane to the second- largest continent of the world. It was easy for us to travel through Malta because my best friend knew everything when i went. that is a big plus - having someone helping you orientate. We visited significant places which we understand our own way being unable to know all the history. But sometimes people create histories themselves- for me the places i visited would be always in my mind as the beach where we slept, the park where we ate homemade sandwiches, the town where waves crushed into rocks and wet us, the place where ,standing on a rock with the water horizon before us, we sang a funny song, the streets where we laughed, the cafe we said goodbye...I would never recall these places by their names but by my feelings. :) Oh, how could i've missed - great food all over Malta.Especially desserts - typical chocolate cake - just yammy! We also cooked a lot but we bought maltese products, everything tastes fine except the icecream from an otherwise nice cafe..but i guess all that depends on person's taste. |
