my home town Plovdiv....I think what to say and I realize that I don't know the history so well, but I feel it while walking through my favourite town. Plovdiv has four seasons and all of them are great. My favourite place - the city garden - even in the winter, it feels great to walk there and just stand and stare at the sleeping trees and plants :). Plovdiv comes after Sofia but only by people's number. I live 8 km from Plovdiv and every night i see the town from above- the lights are just great; and the mountains behind the horizon - wonderful view all day long. When I am away for some time i really miss Plovdiv, not only because i grew up here, but because once you get used to it you never want to leave it. The center of the town is now new - more european as I've heard people say. I think it is charming and you can walk there without cars passing around you ( walking area only). As i mention cars , the crazy drivers come to my mind. Be careful when you cross the streets, pedestrians have no rights ( they do but drivers don't know that!). I find myself running on a green light almost every time. :) Plovdiv has an old town - remains from the past- and lies on seven hills ( i think they are not seven anymore or may be i can't count right). But I really enjoy seeing the town from the hills, because it is even more beautiful ( from above some dirty streets seem clean ). :) I have never been to Paris( update: i was there and still think the same!) , but Plovdiv is romantic as well, depends on what you understand by romantic - walks, old town, shops, the city garden( sitting on a bench and eating sun nuts), looking at Maritza river from one of the hills ... :) |
the summer now it is summer...extremely hot not only cause it is 40 degrees celsium but because there is not even a slight wind...the city seems tired and dirty, some of the people have gone on vacations. it is a nice period for the tourists, especially those who want to enjoy the sun and the late walkings when it is a little cooler. thunderstorms may appear in the end of june and the beginning of july but they are short in time and considering the hotness they don't cool the city so much. i like plovdiv this time of year because i can go to the discos wearing short skirts and don't feel cold when i come out late in the evening - it is still warm and i don't have to catch a taxi or hurry to get home...walking in the city at 3 am is something i enjoy really much and you can always see people doing the same thing...in the center there is non stop working little corners for food and my friends and I love to eat there and walk in the garden next :) |
the winter winter is coming..the weather has changed dramatically , no snow yet! i remember those days on my birthday when relatives couldnt come at my home because of the snow - so much on the streets and noone took care of it. now, it is just rainy or a dark day..autumn is more suitable to call it. It is more quiet now here, still so many cars on the streets but the loud voices have gone on winter sleep.lol anyway just wanted to say it's cold but still nice and we got the christmas decoration from viena's street mariahilferstrasse ( donation i guess) :) |
