Ferry port and popular tourist spot.

Strømstad is a wery popular place. Tourists(mainly Norwegian) are coming all year round for shopping and partying or to catch a boat out to beautiful Koster Islands or other gems somewhere in the Bohuslen islands.

A lot of the tourists come with the 2 Colorline wessels Viking and Bohus that departs and arrives 5 times a day and connects Strømstad to the city of Sandefjord in Norway with a boatride that takes 2,5hrs with full taxfree shopping.

Small Town

Strømstad is a small town even in Scandinavian measures. Only about 5700 persons live here and many of them are occupied in the toursit industry. The fact that a lot of Norwegians comes here to spend money makes Strømstad one of Swedens more expenive places to live. The people profitting from this is naturally happy but some of those who dont are not so impressed by drunk Norwegian creating chaos for them.
A lot of the bigger companies in the area has also been bought by Norwegians recently according to the newspapers.

All about the harbour

If you arrive by car you will see this small river when you enter the centre of Strømstad. Along this river you will find som nice restaurants, Konsum shopping centre and Swedens largest systembolag(Alcohol store) But apart from that Strømstad is all about the harbour with fish restaurants, pubs, large cabin cruisers and ferries that take people out to many different small Islands to their summer houses.
