"Lombok" Lombok by Terje1966

Visited Senggigi beach outside the tourist season. Just a few other western or australian looking people to see there. Senggigi is mainly one nice street in the jungle with restaurants,hotels and tourist informations. Its a wery relaxing atmosphere there. Lombok has just like Bali had a really hard time after the Bali bombings and some of the establishments have gone bankrupt and are now for sale.

Senggigi has a few 5 star hotels but we stayed at the Bintang Senggigi a few minutes by Taxi down the Raya Senggigi in the direction of Mataram and Ampenan airport. The Bintang Senggigi was a nice experience at the price of about 38 usd pr night.(Maybe of season price) We booked at a tourist office on Soekarno Hatta airport in Jakarta.

If i ever get the opportunity to come back to Lombok i will do 4 things.

1. Stay in a small bungalow on the quiet Gili Meno for one week.
2. Climb mount Rinjani
3. Visit Kuta Lombok
4. Visit Gili Nanggu

Not far from Senggigi you can find the 3 islands Gili Air,Gili Meno and Gili Trawangan. These are surfing and snorkling paradises with a wery slow atmosphere.

We had not made any plans to climb the Rinjani. We did not have the time to do so eiter and it was not the right time of the year.
August and september was the best period for this according to our guide.
This hike to the top took 3 days.

We were trying all the time to get a glimpse of the top inside the clouds and suddently on our last evening it became visible for a few minutes.
