Palolem. The beautiful palm beach of GOA. - India
Palolem. The beautiful palm beach of GOA.

A nice place to relax do nothing absolutely nothing!

The beach at Palolem in the south of Goa has a wonderful beach offering you nice simple beach huts (bamboo, western toilet, shower, double bed and mosquito net) at a low prices from 300 -1000 rupees pr. hut a night for the more luxurious ones.

The beach offers plenty of food and drinking options and alcohol is readily available at fair prices.

(the best restaurant you find as the first one, to the left of the only road leading down to the beach. The seafood here is a must)

I stayed at Marron beach resort a luxurious version of a beach hut you find in the far south end of the beach, I can only recommend it.

Address: Palolem ...just go to the beach.

Directions: Train to Madgaon and a local bus from there. They don´t run late evening and taxa is more expensive here then rest of India.

The Stone Kamasutra in Khajuraho - India
The Stone Kamasutra in Khajuraho

The temples is the most elaborately decorated I have ever seen. Displaying the one magnificent stone carving after the other. Famous for the erotic figures it also displays armies with war elephants holding men upside down with there trunks, horses and camels. And I can only recommend visiting.

The temple are very well preserved for anything more then a 1000 years history partly for the isolated location of Khajuraho that preserved it from the invading Muslims hard hand on displays of erotica …and as legend tells maybe due to the voyeur nature of the rain god Indra, as the temples where protected from lightning by the display of erotica as Indra didn’t like to ruin his own enjoyment.

Address: Madhya Pradesh

Directions: The isolation as a tourist site has been lifted as there have been made an expansion of the airport and a brand new railroad (2009) connecting it with Delhi. Or you can get there by bus from Satna or Jhansi if not by your own vehicle.

Kashmir, Shrinagar, Dal Lake - India
Kashmir, Shrinagar, Dal Lake

Up in mountains of Kashmir you find a refuge from the burning heat down south. At Dal lake, Srinagar the British made houseboats for this purpose that are still in use.

The lake makes wonderful scenery for a shikara boat tour around the lake. To see the floating gardens and old city and woodcrafts workshops that are not to be missed as there a simply amassing. Be ready for the shopkeepers that will paddle there boutique up to you and offer you spices and handcrafts.

If you like honey as I you can also get to taste purges some just inform your shikara-wallah of you likings and he will know where you like to go.

Address: Kashmir, Shrinagar, Dal Lake.

Directions: 10 min by car from Shrinagar airport. Going down to Jammu train station will take around 6-7 hours by jeep.

Bandhavgarh national park - India
Bandhavgarh national park

In Bandhavgarh National park in Madhya phadesh, they have the highest density of tigers in the world (around 56 tigers on 448 sq km). So here you will find a very good chance to spot a wild living tiger as I did. The morning tours include an elephant ride to get real near to the tigers (see photos).

Tigers are an endangered species as it only takes so few persons buying tiger products to motivate poachers hunting them to extinction. While the tourist putting their money into the parks and resorts gives other economical benefits to local community as a counterweight.

Address: You enter the park from a little town named Tala

Directions: To get to the park you can go by your own transports or take a train to either Katni or Umaria and from here to Tala by car. (around 75 and 32 km)
