They don't deserve you Koh Samui I am sure can be an idyllic retreat, but the lack of investment by the local government (which is based on the mainland) in the area and problems with crime would discourage me from visiting again.
The roads, even the major ones are in a very poor state of repair, the electricity is not stable, and if you read what the locals write the police are are best inept, at worst corrupt.
The experiences you will read on this and other sites about taxis refusing to use their meters is correct.
If the local police and government do not believe it worth investing their effort and resources into Koh Samui I don't see why we should. |
