Snow Most people seem to associate Chicago with snow and to be fair I have witnessed periods of weather in which one truly had to ask oneself......What the bloody hell am I doing in Chicago in a month which falls between October & March???? However, plan your visit outside these times and leave your anorak at home. You'll be more likely to be seeing young maidens frolicking in Bikinis on the Beach (yes a BEACH) then throwing any snowballs! |
Booze & Gangsters Being British I was obviously concerned having seen documentaries such as the Untouchables as the availability of alcoholic substances in the Chicagoland area. You can imagine my relief when I happened upon the endless amounts of bars that the area has. Some even serve beer worth serving (i.e. Imports). I was also not unhappy to see the end of gangster type activity...however a brief listen to Chicago's fairly poor radio service proved that their 'music' (they call it rap, how quaint!) still exists! Apparently so do they if you happen upon the wrong neighbourhood in the south or west? |
