Piazza Navona: The square is best for people watching. Not only that, it is very close to Pantheon being in the western side and the spot where street artist show their wares. There are many restaurants around the piazza which looks expensive, and they are! A variety of shops, in some cases specialty shops and lots of bars and cafes. I sat on concrete benches within the square and had spent an hour or so, with young excursionist wandering around, who I guess are students on educational tour being watched by their teacher as a leader. Had our packed lunch while watching one of the fountains in the centre of the piazza called the Four Rivers. There's one thing you need not forget. Visit the baroque church dedicated to St. Agnes which is nearby. These simple things I did, made wonders. The way of life is very different. It's interesting!

Spent more than an hour strolling around the Coliseum. I did not actually go inside where the gladiators fought during those days. This huge architecture was originally called the Flavian Amphitheatre. There were many tourist when I visited Coliseum. People from all around the world taking a glimpse of this historical spot. The location looks very natural especially when you see some people, maybe locals wearing costumes which are gladiators look-a-like. Kids will have fun wearing costumes that will be provided for photo purposes. You can have a pose and let your pictures taken for a fee. And why not? You are going to do this, maybe once in your lifetime. Come visit Coliseum, it is breathtaking!

You need to experience the Spanish Steps when you are in Rome. You will regret it if you miss this simple way of exploring the place. These are just steps, but these are in Rome. A good spot to rest, watching tourist alike who are not tired of ascending and descending these staircases. You can see me in the picture on the steps, I was too tired just by going up and down the steps once, but I enjoyed it very much. I was told that at springtime, the stairs are adorned with azaleas which are so impressive. To me, whatever the season is, it is still the Spanish Steps that I always long to visit. What else can you see? When you are at the very top of the steps, you will enjoy the view overlooking the city, the Bernini fountain at the foot of the steps, and of course the famous Piazza Spagna. Come and enjoy the Spanish Steps together with the artist and musicians, vendors, lovers and other tourists.

Monument of Vittorio Emanuele II: The first king of Italy. The monument is 135m or 440ft long by 130m or 425ft deep and as high as 70m or 230ft. It was my first time in April 2006 to see this monument. It's amazing! It's no wonder that this was built for twenty six years as it is huge and detailed. Due to time constraint, I did not have the chance to go inside the monument, but I can assure you that this monument is one of a kind. It houses the tomb of the unknown soldiers and the collection of stuff of Italian theme. A lot has been said about the monument, its controversial nature, called with different names because of its shape, but I believe it is important to note that when you start ascending the many steps going to the top or to the base of the monument, you have to think of one thing. Should I sit on the steps once I get tired? I should warn you, DON'T! If you insist to know why, then you may continue reading my Danger & Warning tips. Have fun!

Piazza Venezia is a square at the foot of the Capitoline Hill. It is surrounded with structures of Palazzo Venezia, Palazzo San Marco and is completely dominated by the huge monument of King Vittorio Emanuel II. The street in Piazza Venezia is so congested and crowded due to many tourist who want to have a glimpe of the structures around the square. I visited the square once at daytime (late afternoon I should say!) on a little more than three days stay in Rome. It was nice to see the place on a clear sunny day, as I can imagine the reflection of the white marbles in the Vittorio Emanuel II monument will be very striking. It is also recommended that you be at the square at night as it is all well lit and that you will be able to appreciate the hugeness of the monument and the other attractive sights around the piazza. Going at the square once is not enough. I have to return to Rome on my next European tour. There is no feeling sorry for whatever I have done because I enjoyed it and because I believe there is always a 'next time'. There are far too many places to visit in Rome, and if you are particular about seeing the spectacular architecture and stunning art of the city, then don't fail to visit Piazza Venezia, a square surrounded with many attractions. Enjoy your stay!

I went to the Vatican City twice and have admired the basilica on both ocassion with its huge and very impressive architecture. Michaelangelo who designed the Dome did an incredible job as it became one of the largest in the world. It was Wednesday when we first visited the church. We were fortunate enough that Pope Benedict held mass in the Square in honour of Pope John Paul II and attended by thousands of people from around the world. Our second visit to the church was in the early afternoon of the next day, Thursday, and again there were too many people waiting for the Pope to address the audience. There was a stage just beside the Basilica where Pope Benedict XVI speak before the thousands of youth from around the world to celebrate the 21st Anniversary of World Youth Day. The coincidence was overwhelming. If you are visiting Rome for the first time, Vatican City especially the St. Peter Basilica is a 'must see'. You can inquire for a FREE ninety-minute tour from the information desk to the right as you enter the portico of the basilica. Just be aware of what you are wearing when you visit the basilica. Proper dress code is strictly enforced. Don't take chances, dress appropriately.

A magnificent man-made Square is the St. Peter's. I cannot leave the place on my first visit thinking of how soon can I see this beautiful place again. It was overwhelming. As I sat on one of the fountains' structure in the centre of the square, I just did not feel tired of watching the basilica, its facade, the Egyptian obelisk at the centre, the fountains, the gardens with umbrella-like pines rising in the skyline, not to mention watching the thousand of people from all over the globe, who just like me have admired and made their visit of the St. Peter's Square their most memorable one. The next day, I visited the square again with my family. Not even one of us can explain why we did that, considering the limited time that we have to stay in the city. Only God knows! To me, it was a dream come true.
