Welcome to Cairo | In Front of the Cairo Museum |
Cairo is a dream come true. It was a dream that it has to be real. It was October 24, 2008 when I landed at the Cairo International Airport from Larnaca Cyprus. Though it took me and my family one hour short trip between two countries, we were a bit tired due to previous hectic schedule in Larnaca. It was a nice stay though due to the historical attractions of the city but there were hassles here and there as soon as we arrive and when we were leaving Cairo back to Toronto. It was a nightmare at the Cairo International Airport.
Nevertheless, Cairo is a history and will remain a history to me. The city is full of excitement and there is never a minute lost when we're touring the metropolis. For the 3 nights that we stayed in Cairo, I hired a car with a tour guide. This made our trip more convenient.
If you live in a country like Canada, you will be shocked on the roads of Cairo. It's not only the heavy traffic, it is the way local drivers drive in this crowded city. Traffic signs (although I did not notice if there is any) were never followed. A one-lane road becomes 3. Well, we had an expert driver so I did not worry too much about this. It did not spoil our excitement - not a bit. |

uglyscot Wed Oct 14, 2009 13:58 UTC Buildings in Cairo look either as if they are just being built, or just being demolished. | Stevies5 Wed Aug 5, 2009 13:05 UTC Thanks for sharing this valuable info Freddie. Arming myself with this knowledge, will at least prepare me somewhat ,for what can go wrong. I'm travelling to Giza in September, can't wait. | JessH Thu May 21, 2009 07:32 UTC Hi Freddie, I enjoyed reading & rating your interesting tips! Want to visit Cairo next year; thankfully I'm used to crazy traffic by living in Dubai. So for calm driving I'm travelling to Scotland again this summer :-) Greetings from the desert! Jess | joiwatani Fri Apr 17, 2009 15:06 UTC You are right! This is Hibiscus! We call it "Gumamela". |
