In October 2007 my partner and I, having been together about a month, decided to take a trip. We agreed on Prague, since I had wanted to visit for the Christmas market for several years. We both get quite excited about travelling, and it wasn't long before we decided to make it slightly longer, and also go to Bratislava, since it's not far away... and then, oh look at the map, Vienna is so close... another city was added, and the short break became a two-week backpacking trek!

We started in Prague, flying in at the beginning of December, and arriving to find it already a Christmassy delight (although there was sadly no snow).

One of the side trips we took at this point was to Kutna Hora

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Beautiful architecture
  • Cons:Too many tourists
  • In a nutshell:Fairytale city!

Good for Central Prague Hotels (1)

Good, clean hostel situated very conveniently in a little alleyway just behind the Tyn Church, next to the Old Town... more travel advice
