"Castro Urdiales" Castro-Urdiales by illumina

The 15th of August 2008 was a national holiday in Spain, so we took the day off work as we'd been invited to go for a drive to the north of Vitoria with a Spanish co-worker and his girlfriend.

We tried initially to go to the caves at Puente Viesgo (actually our second attempt!), but booking ahead really IS important - they put up a full sign just as we got there. So we went to plan B, and after lunch headed to Castro, where the local fiesta was in full swing. There were plenty of boat races to watch from the sea wall, while enjoying a beer or two, and the night life kicked off a bit later.

The following morning, after a night in a hostel room that our Spanish friend thought resembled a bordello(!), we did some more traditional site-seeing.
