Snow, snow! Malmö at New Years is fantastic. There was plenty of snow when I visited, which I was told was fairly unusual. They really give the firework displays at midnight their all... in fact they were still going at lunchtime the next day! Lund is only just up the road and is well worth a visit, particularly if, like me, you enjoy visits to Cathedrals and museums. |
The Turning Torso in Västra Hamnen is very unusual, and the whole area is full of a variety of styles of architecture; at least some of the buildings are designed to be eco-friendly which I found particularly interesting. |
Malmöhus Malmöhus is not only a beautiful castle, but a fascinating museum as well - if you have children I can thoroughly recommend the Natural History section, the bats especially are wonderful! And just along the road is the Riberborgs Kallbadhus, the open air swimming baths and sauna. The pier stretches out into the Öresund, leading first to the cafe, and from there into the bathhouse. The sauna rooms have a spectacular view out over the sea, and when you're hot enough you can go and plunge yourself into it; although as it was -1 outside when I visited on New Years Eve, I chickened out! An experience not to be missed! |
