Watch out for the hawkers

Watch out for the hawkers flogging handbags, strange squeezy toys, jewellry, sunglasses when it's sunny and umbrellas when it rains. They're very persistant and there are so many of them - you seem to have to say 'no thanks' to one for every 5 yards you walk! And if you sit down, lord help you, they'll pounce and start trying to drape their wares all over you!

Unique Suggestions: Either ignore them completely, or say 'no, grazie' - it seemed that if they think you might be local they give up quicker.

Snack Carts - don't bother Street Vendors Review

Don't buy food from the the mobile snack carts outside the major tourist attractions - it's pretty expensive, and the food, at least the 'pizza' that we had, was pretty terrible. It's better to get pizza al taglie from the little bars - there's usually one or two on most main streets. They're probably a bit cheaper, and the food is _much_ nicer.
