"Bavarian Village" Kimberley by Camping_Girl

Kimberley Travel Guide: 8 reviews and 11 photos

Kimberley is a neat bavarian-styled town, just a short drive north of Cranbrook. There are some fabulous campgrounds in the area, as well as some really gorgeous rental accomodations, a couple of impressive golf courses and a really nice ski hill in the winter time. Skiing in Kimberley is no longer just a local passion, it is seeing more and more tourists every winter.

Kimberley was once a mining town - at one time almost everyone who lived here worked for Cominco. But the mine shut down several years ago. There is a lovely flower garden at the mine site now, called Cominco Gardens.

Well, at least it is a mining town that 'dodged the bullet' after the mine closed! I need to do much more exploring in British Columbia.
