New Frank's Restaurant: Good food

Frank's serves really great Chinese food. The decor is typical plain-jane cafe style, but what it lacks in atmosphere it more than makes up for in taste! They serve Chinese and American dishes and a good breakfast. This is one of the cheapest places to eat in the park.

Unfortunately, Frank's is no more..... :(

Favorite Dish: We go here for breakfast a lot when in Waterton.

Big Scoop Ice Cream Parlour: Ice Cream!!!

There is always a line up out the door and down the sidewalk on hot summer days! They sell both hard and soft ice cream and frozen yogurt in a wide selection of flavours. This is also one of the few places where you can still buy a chocolate malt.

Favorite Dish: The waffle cone sundaes are out of this world!

Royal Stewart Dining Room: Traditional English Dining Room

The dining room at the Prince of Wales Hotel is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They are also quite famous for their traditional afternoon tea, served in the lobby area of the hotel. The food here, really, is not well-known for its quality. I have heard that the tea is nice albeit a bit spendy.

The views from the dining room and lounge are spectacular. If you aren't interested in splurging on a meal here, at least pop into the lounge for a drink so you can take in that view.

Tuscana Restaurant: Wonderful Italian Restaurant

The Tuscana is downtown. They have a fine dining restaurant as well as an outdoor patio.

The menu includes traditional Italian staples such as bruschetta, a variety of tempting pastas and sauces, as well as steak chicken and seafood dishes.

The service is generally top-notch here.

This is a relaxing spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner. They have some great local dishes on the dinner menu, and they are one of two restaurants open year round at Waterton.

Fireside Lounge: More casual dining

The Fireside Lounge in the Bayshore Inn is a more relaxed spot to have a drink and a light meal, versus the dining room at the Bayshore. The decor is really 60's original, but the food makes up for the atmosphere!

The menu features an assortment of appetizers, salads, burgers, steak and pizzas. And don't forget a cold drink to wash it all down. It's the perfect way to end a day of hiking.

Favorite Dish: I opted for my old stand-by: a burger loaded with mushrooms. Good!

Kootenai Brown Dining Room: Fine Dining Establishment

This fully licensed fine dining room overlooks Upper Waterton Lake. This is a full service restaurant, serving everything from crab cake appetizers to soups to salads to steaks, seafood and lamb.

They are also open for breakfast and lunch, and have a great selection of items to choose from, including pizzas.

Favorite Dish: I've only eaten here once. I had a steak, and it was very nice.

The Good Earth Deli: Light Meals and Snacks

This is a great place to pick up a bagged lunch for your hike or fixings for a wonderful picnic lunch. They have an assortment of freshly baked goodies, sandwiches and light meals, perfect for when you don't want too much.

Welch's Chocolate Shop: Mmmmmm.....Chocolate.....

If you love chocolate as much as I do, then Welch's Chocolate Shop is one place you have to stop! Featuring hand-made chocolates and fudge, ice cream with home-made waffle cones, a variety of rare and unusual candies and REAL Canadian maple syrup!

They also have a shop in Banff, by the way.....

Favorite Dish: Nobody's ever made a chocolate I didn't like....... but my favorite has got to be the fudge!

Subway: Fresh Sub Sandwiches

Subway, for those of you who have never been to one, is the home of the best sub sandwich you will find anywhere. You have your choice of several different types of bread baked fresh daily. Select the sub you want and then you have your choice of cheese, vegetables and sauces to adorn it. You can even get your sandwich toasted, if you like.

They also have really great cookies.

Favorite Dish: The chicken bacon ranch sub on italian herbs and cheese, toasted, with ranch sauce.
