Towering Giants

Big, big trees!
These trees are so big, they absolutely take your breath away. I was completely humbled by them, I don't know how else to describe it.

If you get to northern California, make sure you wander off the path somewhere and get an opportunity to hug the redwoods! It'll do your heart good.
The RV is dwarfed by the trees

Lady Bird Grove

Look at the size of our RV, compared to the size of the trees!

This photo was taken at Lady Bird Grove which, by the way... is not a road that RV's and trailers should be on. We saw the sign at the bottom of the hill, which suggested that the road was not RECOMMENDED for RV's and trailers. It didn't actually say they weren't allowed. So, we decided to drive up to the top. Actually, once we started up, we never really had any choice but to go to the top, since there was no way to turn around and go back down.

My husband is a log truck driver and thank God for that! He has 20 years of experience driving loaded trucks down roads as steep as this one, so we made it down with our brakes intact. But don't try this on your own folks! The results could be disastrous. Hubby said he thought the road was approximately a 23% grade.... if you know what that means you will appreciate what it was like!

We certainly got a lot of strange looks from the other folks on the road!

Camping in the Redwoods

This is the tree I hugged, by our campsite in the Tall Trees Grove.

What a beautiful place, I wish we could have stayed longer!

What is even more incredible about these trees is that they are not even old growth! This area has been logged twice over the years. Imagine how big the old growth trees were! We saw some of the stumps and they are incredible.
