Best Western Courtesy Inn: Quiet Little Motel   Check Rates

  • We stayed at the Best Western Courtesy from Dec 15 - 19, 2006 (room 304). Our room was very clean and comfortable. The carpet and flooring were new and therefore very clean. The furniture and drapes were equally new and the room had a fairly fresh coat of paint. The beds were extremely comfortable - not saggy but not too hard either. The rooms are air conditioned, but since we were here during winter, we did not have the opportunity to test this out.

Our room came with a mini fridge, a microwave, coffee maker, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, all of which made our stay much more comfortable. A free continental breakfast was served daily from 8:00 to 10:00 am. It was pretty basic - cereal, pastry and coffee - but we made great use of the free breakfast every day, as it saved us quite a bit of money on meals for our vacation. Free parking was also provided, but limited. They have room for one vehicle per room, with perhaps 2 or 3 additional extra spots.

The hotel has an outdoor heated pool and hot tub, which were very clean. Our room was cleaned daily, and housekeeping did a great job. One very minor complaint that I did have was that the shower was installed extremely low on the wall. So low, in fact, that it was laughable. I am only 5'5" and the shower head was at eye level on me.

The hotel was very quiet, and we had no problems during our stay whatsoever. I found the front desk staff at check in to be very friendly and helpful.

The front desk is not open 24 hours a day and this may be a concern if you need a late arrival, although it was not an issue for us. The hours of operation are from 8:00 am to 1:00 am daily which served our needs quite nicely.

The hotel is a basic family-style motel. This is not a spot I'd pick for a romantic getaway with my sweetheart, but for a family planning a trip to DL, it's perfect.

I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Unique Qualities: The hotel is extremely close to the Disneyland Resort, but is not on the ART shuttle line. You will have to either drive to DL and park onsite or take local transit to the park. You could also walk to Harbour Blvd and catch the ART shuttle, but it is about a five minute walk to the nearest shuttle stop.

If you choose to drive to DL, you will quite literally be at the parking structure in two or three minutes. Parking in DL is $11 USD per day (Dec/06), but you do have the ability to leave the parking structure during the day and come back later. You just have to show your parking receipt to get back in with no additional charge. (A free tram takes you from the parking lot to Downtown Disney.)

You can watch the Disney fireworks from the hotel grounds - just walk around to either side of the hotel and you will be able to see quite clearly.

Lemon Tree Hotel Suites: Bit of a disappointment   Check Rates
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • We spent 8 days at the Lemon Tree #151 in Dec 06.It is far enough away from DL to escape when need be yet was only a 5 min drive. The check in staff was super friendly & helpful.

Our room had a queen bed & full kitchen. The bed was saggy. The room was nicely decorated, as was the lobby & grounds. We were well away from the street & experienced no traffic noise.

I had read complaints about the showers but we never had any problems with hot water or water pressure. The plumbing was another story. The toilet drain was partly clogged & always needed to be flushed 2 or 3 times before it would flush. After the toilet flushed water would back up into the kitchen sink & then slowly drain away. This was a daily occurence. When I mentioned it to the front desk staff one morning, they asked me if I needed a plunger to fix the drain!

The landscaping for the hotel property is really beautiful. There is an inner courtyard with a pond & fountain, a bbq & outdoor fireplace area, lots of trees & flowers. Our room had a private outdoor seating area, with a table & chairs.I really enjoyed sitting out here in the evenings with my wine & my laptop. The wireless internet connection worked perfectly.

The free breakfast consisted of pastries, hot & cold cereal, fruit, yogourt, juice, teas, coffee, hot choc.

I am not picky as far as hotels go but I noticed a few things that the hotel could brush up on.There were grimy hand prints on the doors & light switches, a build up of grime in the corners of the floor & I wondered about the cleanliness of the wood tables & cabinets with their very rough surfaces. The bed linens were not changed once.

The most disappointing part of our stay was that the website said the pool was heated & it was not.It was TOO cold even for us crazy Canadians!

The problems with our room were certainly not earth shattering & we never let it put a damper on our vacation. It was just disappointing since this hotel has the potential to be very classy, if they'd just pay a little more attention to the details.

Unique Qualities: Very nice decor. This isn't a typical chain hotel. It is a very unique place.

There was a "freebie" bag in the bathroom when we arrived, which contained a disposable razor (very much appreciated, since I left my own at home!), a small tube of toothpaste, some gum, a short romance novel, a vitamin C drink and a couple of candies. I thought this was a nice touch.

On Christmas day when we returned to our room after a day's outing we found a bag of chocolates on the table with a small card that said "Merry Christmas from the Lemon Tree Hotel". This was another really nice touch.

They also have weekly and monthly rates which makes a longer stay a little more economical.

A lot of excellent informations about Disneyland, I have just seen the one in Florida and "Pirates of the Caribbean" was my favorite attraction there, unfortunately D. is also a place where you might spend a lot of money for just rip-offs...

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I am sitting here in Australia but feel like I am back at Disney after reading your reviews. Great write ups. Can't wait to return

I used to live in the town next to Anaheim and trips to DL were frequent. Took my daughter there when she was 10. She didn't care for it but loved C.Adven. My fave ride was Soaring over CA, too.
