Great Food and Shopping I enjoy visiting KL because Malaysia Airlines has regular discounted fares. Also the exchange rates allows for relatively cheap buying. I like visiting the usual shopping areas - Bukit Bintang & Chinatown. Its also nice to visit the Petronas Towers and the attached mall - KLCC. For those into pirated DVDs and software - this is no longer available in malls - however pirated DVDs can be found in Chinatown still. Actually KL is not much of a tourist location other than for shopping and food - not much sight seeing to be had. Nowadays I use KL as a starting point into other parts of Asia using Asia Airlines. |
Taxis are relatively cheap If I cant walk to a location I prefer to use the taxi service rather than figure out the bus system or LRT. Luckily the taxi service is relatively cheap. From peak hour taxi drivers prefer not to use the meter and try to negotiate a fee as they say a lot of time is wasted sitting in traffic jams. |
Safety/Scams I have been to KL several times and found it to be safe. However I recently fell for a scam which you can read elsewhere. Bottomline - dont go home with strangers no matter how nice they seem. |
