the sagada experience

I've been to sagada twice as a kid (that was more than 20 years ago). my dad was into mountain climbing that time, and he took me and my brother with him on his second trip there. that same year, he took the whole family there where we got to spend christmas. even as a kid, the place made such an impression on me. i had good memories there. growing up, we would always make plans to go back but somehow, our plans never pushed through. i also had a hard time convincing my friends to go there because it was too far for them. but after seeing the movie dont give up on us (uh, my friend is a really big piolo fan=)) everybody suddenly wanted to go. and so we did. and what a wonderful experience it was. i was never really an athletic person, but i suddenly found myself caving and trekking for hours! but really, once inside the cave or once you get to the big falls, all the pain and weariness in your body will disappear. even just staying in town is an experience in itself. its really hard to explain, but there's just something about sagada that makes you want to go back, which i did, just a week after we went there. =)
