Gateway to Gold Country

Arnold Lives Here

Arriving from San Francisco
Sacramento is the capitol of California and the gateway to the Sierras. You will travel through Sacramento on the way to Lake Tahoe, and the gold country. Near by is where gold was discovered in 1849. You can visit several areas and actually do some gold panning, finding your own bit of gold.
While in Sacramento I suggest a visit to Old Town Sacramento and also the Railroad Museum. This museum is excellent having many models of old engines, and cars with very nice exhibits.
You can see the Governor's mansion, but Arnold S. has chosen not to officially live there.
Traffic is usually light downtown

The Capitol of California is located in the very center of Sacramento. You can park your car and walk into the building. There are also tours with a narrator.
