Brunello, Food, and Atmosphere | The fortress that protected Montalcino |
More difficult to get to than other hilltop towns, but Montalcino t is worth the effort. Expect great landscapes from high up, less tourists, and the food preparation equally matches the great brunello wines. This town is a painter's paradise. Every corner offers a different rootop view of the valley below. The people who live in the town appreciate visitors and make you feel appreciated. You will leave wishing you could stay longer. |

| | Looking down at possible paintings As I paint Italy I am always looking for subjects. Seen here is one I chose to paint from the much larger landscape I could see from the city wall of Montalcino. |
