History Filled Palermo

We had 4 days in Palermo, and with that we got in a lot of walking and covering the center, back and forth into small streets and to three markets. We also spent a half day using a bus to Monreale and its cathedral, which I recommend seeing.
The food is very different here that in the Veneto where I live, and it is so interesting to see, taste and enjoy these differences.
We used the city bus at night to get to some out of the way trattorias, and this was a good idea, and was inexpensive.
I saw some strange things to my eyes, and will include them on these pages. Take a look at the second photo here and you will see what I mean.

Meat Seller Eye Catcher

My American eyes are not used to seeing this scene. I have seen a lot of horse meat in markets here in the Veneto, but never a head. You will see other eye catching scenes in Palermo. Have your camera ready in one hand and your hand over your wallet with the other. The markets are at times crowded and known for pick pockets.
I made a short video of the market and it is on VT.
