Nightlife Spot: King Tuts
Pure Magic atmosphere . At night this place rocks. It is the only place to be. You will love it. The group I saw from ca. stayed at the backpackers hostel i was in. They organise many festivals and concerts around the country. Good food during the day. Pub during the day is a good place to meet musicians and artists. Many scouts for labels see playing here as the def. going places venue. Hard to say which, of the beer is best but they do not just stock the run of the mill stuff.

Nightlife Spot: cafe royan
Late night Russian-scots bar ,opened recently and has really ace decor, all Russian and highly symbolic. Beer selection is eclectic but the Vodka selection is amazing, staggering in fact. Tucked in between the tenements of the west ends up and coming nightlife cafe/pub student centre this ancient building holds something quite unique.

Nightlife Spot: gazelle
The tiny 1 man kitchen produces astaggering amount of dishes including mussels with 3 different sauces. homemade real beef pattie burgers ,second only in the city to the one ., the best i have had Ever. That was at King Tuts. A lot of fish dishes ,some with asian cooking away from the traditional scots fayre. The food is good value but not cheap Apart from food the bar does wine and whisky tasting If it is not sacrilidge to say they also have American bourbon tasting evenings. Very pleasant environment.

Nightlife Spot: THEATRES: THe Citizens
Has expanded from the main rep. company of the city and one of the best reputations of any company in Britain by adding two smaller venues when the building was renovated and expanded. The two smaller auditoriums are more experimental but the piece de la resistance is the magnificent main auditorium. Their productions go all over the country and indeed the world. Best thing is that their preview nights ar completely free. World class theatrical productions for free that is Egalitarianism at its very finest and complements the city's policy of no admission charges to its wonderful art collections.

Nightlife Spot: West End
Hawkhead is right the central core is not that big but if you centre yourself on the charing cross area ,you get all the fun of the west end of charing cross and the student bars/clubs/and casinos, the former being not just for students but is a reflection on the prices you will pay once you get inside. You can get a good value room at etap hotel 3 people in a room for £32 but it is a walk /taxi to the city or you could try www.american.glasgowhostel.pl ,rooms are same price as etap but its not ensuite but it has the huge bonus of a good well equipt kitchen and in the heart of the Charing cross area and 24 hour internet cafe ,which is warm and cheap
