Organizing Trip To Pangkor Every year, I had the opportunity to organize my Division trip to various tourist spot all around Malaysia. And this year, Pangkor had been chosen as our destination. I managed to organize this trip by surveying a few packages available via net and even direct call to local agent. Our trip started on the late nite of 11 May 2006 by bus from Johor Bharu, then stopped at Ayer Keroh and Seremban to pick up all the participants. From Seremban we headed straight to Tapah Rest Area (via PLUS Highway) where we reached Tapah in early morning at around 530am. Quite a tiring journey especially for those participants that boarded from Johor Bharu. After we take our bath and change our cloths at the Rest Area, we headed 1st to Gua Tempurung for caving adventure. This adventure become one of the best activity that we had done for this trip. Although all of us are 1st timer in caving, the experience gained made us all happy and intended to visit Gua Tempurung again. From Gua Tempurung, our next stop is visiting the Kellies Castle. Well, its just an old 'incomplete' big mansion with its own story & history. From there we headed to Lumut Jetty to take our ferry ride to Pangkor Island. The ferry ride took us just around 30 minutes before we were taken by bus to the Chalet. |
Our Accomodation Our local contact for this trip is "Abang Bob". He is the President of All Chalet Owner here in Pangkor and he is also the owner of the chalet that we stayed for 2 nites. Pangkor Rimba Camp is situated along the Teluk Nipah beach and it is the only chalet that being build next to Teluk Nipah beach. Other chalet is situated on roadside whereby to access to the beach, they need to get accross the Teluk Nipah strech road. Although Pangkor Rimba Camp stated the word 'camp', it is actually just to promote that this chalet is also offering a camping ground to traveller that wanna stand-up a camp instead of staying indoor. Abang Bob is a very friendly, helpful and nice person that throughout this trip, he always looking for improving his service and ensure that my group is well taken care. There is a restaurant and a sourvenir shop inside the compound. They also had few guitars that can be used by guest without charging any fees. I strongly reccomend Pangkor Rimba Camp for budget, easy going traveller and especially for big group. The surrounding is kinda like a chalet in the rainforest kind of concept, clean and rooms are with attached bathroom. There is a karaoke hall even. You may contact Abang Bob at 0135109384 for further details or need someone local to arrange your trip to Pangkor. |

Overall We did a snorkeling activity here in Pangkor whereby the spot is at the Giams Island just less than 10 minutes boat ride from Teluk Nipah. Average score for the beautiness of the corals. Beware of sharps corals and sea urchins. Land Tour that we did was okay. Lots can be improved esp. for number of places to visit and of course the taxi itself. Shopping in Pangkor can be specified more towards the Local Sea product such as dried fishes & squid. Buying T-shirt with Pangkor words written on it is a must but can be bought also at Lumut Jetty. The quality of the sea water here is okay but not as good as Langkawi (West Coast of Malaysia). People are friendly and helpful. Minimum activity can be done at nite. Lots of local teenagers movement after 12am along this Teluk Nipah main road and some even showing their dangerous skills in motorcycling which can cause incident/accident. |
