"Ruedesheim – German Pensioners Costa del Sol" Rüdesheim am Rhein by Dr.Styranki

This lovely village next to the River Rhein is most pittoresque and authentic with its small alleys and half wooden houses. This is totally true and nice looking village compared with the plastic replicas all around the world. Middle in the wine producing area, it hosts nice and tolerable climate. Unfortunately this treasure is also well known place amongst the elderly tourists (mostly German), who enjoy the life here. Everything is in walking (rollator) distance and if you’re under 40 years old you definitely belong to minority group. Horst and Gerdrudes with their German moustaches are enjoying the oompah music and lively atmosphere in restaurants, which are serving traditional German food and beer. Also small winestubes are providing very cheap local white wine. People are showing that they are on holiday, not to be shamed to be happily drunk at 5 p.m, totally different restaurant culture than in stiff upper lip France, not so far away. Those who can will dance oompah polka, with the mixture of pride and shame reflecting on their faces. At midnight the village will calm down.
