Fishermans Village | Fishermans Village in Tauran |
We took a trip out to one of the fishermans villages. Just to see how these people live so simply makes you realise how well of you really are. The walk along the wooden planks I have to say was kinda scary but I made it there and back in one piece. |
| Sepilok Wildlife Sanctuary |
| | Orang-Utans (Men of the Forrest) As you can see by the heading that is what Orangu-Tan means. We flew to Sandakan for the day to see the Orangu-Tangs at the Sepilok Wildlife Sancturay. What a fantastic job these people do. Apparently we where very lucky this day as we saw around 13 Orang-Utans and three of them had baby's. They sure do know how to put on a show for you. But fellow travellers they have rules at this place for a reason and it's sad to say thay say people just diregard them for there own happiness. Please listen to the rangers, it is these animals lives that are at risk here because of us humans. |
| Early Morning Fresh Seafood Markets |
| | Tauran From where we were staying Tauran was a 15 min taxi drive. Here we could mostly everything that you could buy in KK but that was an hour away. They even had a major bank there and the exchange rate is much higher than the Hotel is offering. Yet again these people live quite simply compared to us back home. While there you can go to the morning fish markets, Yes they are a bit smelly but what a surprise to see how much you pay for things. So cheap and fresh. You can buy your seafood here and ask the hotel to cook it for you at a minimal price or a restaurant and it's half the price. Also take a walk over the suspension bridge. I am no hero and very scared of heights but I impressed myself yet again by walking over it and back again. They have a supermarket there where things are cheaper once again than the hotel. |
