The Tumpat town is located in the northernmost district in Kelantan. It shares a commonn boder with Thailand and has plenty of Thai influence. It is also a district with the most number of population of Thai descendent. Assimilation is almot total and these people of Thai descendants speaks the local Malay dialect fluently.
It is the district with the most number of Buddhist temples. This illustrate the tolerance level of the predominantly Malay Muslim community of Kelantan in general and Tumpat in particular. This reclining Buddha is purported to be the longest in South East Asia.
This is the most recent statue compared to the rest. Here The Buddha is potrayed in a cross legged sitting position and it is so massive.
There are other statues with Buddha in standing positions. Visitors from Thailand comes to this temple to pray.
