Bangkok | The entrance to the temple Compound |
I traveled to Thailand in the peak of the rainiy season inSeptember of 2005. It as just after Hurricane Katrina hit the US, and the Thai people I met were quite concerned about the welfare of the people in the Gulf Coast of the US. They were all so grateful for the help after the tsunami, they wanted to repay our kindness.
The weather was humid, and hot! It rained every day, and one day was monsoon like, with flooding in the streets. I was amused to see people on motorcycles driving throught the deep water holding umbrellas.
The people were incredibly friendly and polite. Although I stayed in a 5 star hotel, I worked every day in a factory abut 60KM away, so I experienced the traffic and work life of the locals. I didn't have a lot of time to "play tourist" but I did visit the weekend market, and the Temple of the Emerald Bhudda on my one day off.
I hope to get back to Bangkok to see more of the city, and work my way around the country to soak in the ancient culture. |
