We 'discovered' Siesta Key about 5 years ago and have returned yearly ever since. If you want a truly relaxing, laid back holiday after stressing out for the rest of the year, then Siesta Key is the place. Beautiful beaches, glorious weather and all you could want within a couple of minutes stroll.

The village lies at one end of the key and has plenty of shops, bars, restaurants etc. There are three main beaches, at the village end there is a huge public beach with all the usual facilities, then Crescent Beach which stretches to Point of Rocks and at the far end of the key Turtle Beach. They all have lovely soft white sand and you can walk along for what seems like miles -in fact most people seem to stroll along it at sometime in their holiday! As the two main beaches are so long and wide it never seems to get too crowded, even on the national holiday weekends. The sunsets are absolutely stunning and a definite must see.

We've stayed there in May, June and November and enjoyed every minute. June can have sudden thunderstorms and downpours but it soon clears up. The sea is like warm bathwater. November is still hot but less humid.

Crescent Beach stretches for what seems like miles and we have always stayed at the Stickney Point Bridge end of it. We've stayed at the Crescent Arms once and the other times at Sea Castle apartments which face directly onto the beach. It's little more than a two minute stroll from here to restaurants and shops with virtually everything you could want in the vicinity without needing to drive if you don't want to.

We've stayed at both Longboat Key and Lido Key in previous years but Siesta Key beats them hands down.
