"Belen, New Mexico" Belen by Cruiseone2003

I had to visit an associate in Belen, NM (Means Bethlehem in Spanish) which is just south of Albuquerque, I asked where was a good local place to eat and without hesitation was told "Harla Mays at the old Onate Theater. (pronounced Own-yah-tay) This is a very cool place, what was once the local movie house in Belen is now a hybrid restaurant/theater because the owners have kept the charm of the theater and added the dining room. You enter into the former lobby of the theater and are seated in what looked to me were the balcony seats. Silent movies are playing while you are eating. The main floor is where they can seat groups and parties. Now, the most important part is the food, all I can say is it's all good and if you need help with choosing just ask your server, they are more than happy to help. I on the other hand love green chile and couldn't say no to "The Flame Thrower" Green Chile Hamburger. The atmosphere was perfect for food like this, very retro but original, not a chain restaurant which tries to look retro, this is the real deal!
